Lieksa provides an incomparable venue for brass music, and the annual Brass Week brings together a large cohort of Finnish and international brass musicians. The programme will include a broad range of concerts, brass music courses, and an international trumpet competition, plus a generous assortment of fringe events, free admission concerts, outdoor musical performances and children’s events. We shall also arrange an international euphonium competition in 2018.

This internationally acclaimed festival will bring together friends of Sibelius’ music from across the globe, as the Lahti Symphony Orchestra once again invites all friends of Finland’s national composer to spend a wonderful long weekend in the acoustically splendid setting of Sibelius Hall. Our Chief Conductor Dima Slobodeniouk will serve as Artistic Director of the 2018 festival.
Our 20th anniversary celebration will bring memorable experiences with top Finnish and international artists in the magnificent cultural landscapes of Southwest Finland. The programme will range from familiar classics to the very latest chamber music performed in intimate manor houses and churches.
The finest mediaeval, renaissance and baroque compositions in the venerable cultural landscapes of Lake Rautavesi with leading Finnish and international early music artists. The concerts will take place in the mediaeval stone churches of Sastamala. An international master class and free admission events will complement the concert series.
The landscapes of Lake Tuusula form the crucible of the Finnish cultural world, providing the backdrop for a unique journey through the wonders of living chamber music. Artistic Director Pekka Kuusisto is expecting several leading musicians to take up his invitation to perform at the festival, as in previous years. We cannot guarantee that everything you hear will be safe and familiar, but open-minded audiences can rest assured of satisfaction.
