Finland’s most cosmopolitan festival of period instruments will bring gems of early music, celebrated orchestras, highly distinguished musicians and unique concert experiences to the mediaeval church and modern chapel of St. Lawrence in Vantaa.
The main programme of Oulainen Music Week is a classical music concert series, which is supplemented by supporting events with leading names in jazz, folk, children’s music and entertainment.
Held in the south-easternmost corner of Finland, this festival transports its audiences on a tour of villages, varying landscapes and diverse moods with a programme of the finest chamber music from various eras and master classes for young musicians. Some special events such as meetings with artists and impromptu performances in public spaces will also be open to all comers.
This unique celebration gives the audience an intimate chamber music experience by the historic shores of Lake Tuusula with an unconventional, multi-artistic and intellectually riveting programme. Our Festival keeps listeners on their toes by continually re-inventing and challenging itself under the inspired artistic direction of the Kamus Quartet.
