In 2018 we shall celebrate our 20th anniversary as an international meeting point for friends of piano music, with established world-class pianists and promising new stars performing in the unique setting of the Gösta Museum of Art. The Artistic Director of Mänttä Music Festival is the distinguished pianist Niklas Pokki.
This chamber music event centres on the 300 year-old wooden cruciform church in the village of Iitti, about 70 miles northeast of Helsinki. The high point of the festivities will be hauling a piano to the lookout point at Hiidenvuori for a watchnight concert. The pianist Laura Mikkola has served as Artistic Director of the festival from its very foundation.
The maritime ambience of Inkoo and its mediaeval church will breathe new life into familiar and less well-known works of chamber music. The highlights of this annual celebration are international guest stars, a concert for children, a concert at the Wallhalla Theatre in Barösund, and the Jazz in the Square free concert. The Artistic Director of Music by the Sea is the violinist Nonna Knuuttila.
A mediaeval abbey and churches and other concert venues in the local archipelago provide the backdrop for a superb music festival organised in this sunny seaside resort in Southwest Finland. The programme will include park concerts, dinner concerts, a concert cruise and the Naantali Children’s Music Festival.
