Surprising and delighting audiences with a wide range of musical attractions for over three decades, this splendid folk music festival also ensures that ethno, bluegrass, fado, Irish folk, jazz and many other musical styles resound through the summer nights of Haapavesi. Poignant, high standard church concerts will captivate audiences. Organised for the 35th season ahead of the festival, our Folk Course is the core of this international event.
The 50th Spelit folk music event will be arranged in the school centre grounds at Kauhajoki, featuring more than 20 concerts of folk music, dance and singing, dozens of smaller musical events and performances, the Finnish championships for harmonica and mandolin players, and the Spelit competition for one and two-row accordions.
Sommelo is an international music festival arranged in Kainuu, Finland and Russian Karelia, which are the cradle of most runo singing and other forms of old and new folk music. The event incorporates concerts, courses, conferences, art exhibitions and other attractions for the whole family.
