This unique event provides an opportunity to hear new and early chamber music at atmospheric concert venues set amidst the splendid scenery of the Ostrobothnian coast. The accomplished Swedish violinist Cecilia Zilliacus has served as our Artistic Director since 2018. The festival theme in 2019 will be Sic Vita!

The maritime ambience of Inkoo and its mediaeval church will breathe new life into familiar and less well-known works of chamber music. The highlights of this annual celebration are international guest stars, a concert for children, a concert at the Wallhalla Theatre in Barösund, and the Jazz in the Square free concert. The Artistic Director of Music by the Sea is the violinist Nonna Knuuttila.
The finest mediaeval, renaissance and baroque compositions resound through the venerable cultural landscapes of Lake Rautavesi every year at the turn of July and August, with the mediaeval stone churches and leading cultural sites of Sastamala serving as charming concert venues. Our thematic five-year programme for 2018 – 2023 will transport audiences to a series of cities served by waterways that have linked them to the wider world and turned them into flourishing centres of culture. The theme city in 2019 will be Paris, the city of love.
An intimate, youthful celebration in the childhood stamping ground of Finland’s national composer Jean Sibelius, with concerts in various districts of Loviisa, just an hour’s drive from Helsinki to the East. With short distances between performance venues, a warm concert mood is guaranteed to pervade these idyllic surroundings.
Leading chamber musicians will transfix the town of Kuhmo in Eastern Finland this July. A skilfully designed festival programme, inimitable concerts, beautiful surroundings and sunlit nights will open the senses to new and sublime delights. We shall celebrate our golden jubilee season in summer 2019.
