The maritime ambience of Inkoo and its mediaeval church will breathe new life into familiar and less well-known works of chamber music. The highlights of this annual celebration are international guest stars, a concert for children, a concert at the Wallhalla Theatre in Barösund, and the Jazz in the Square free concert. The Artistic Director of Music by the Sea is the violinist Nonna Knuuttila.
The Old Town in Rauma provides unique concert venues for this August celebration. Our programme of chamber music is a refreshing combination of familiar classics and lesser-known gems reflecting an annually changing theme.
This chamber music event centres on the 300 year-old wooden cruciform church in the village of Iitti, about 70 miles northeast of Helsinki. The high point of the festivities will be hauling a piano to the lookout point at Hiidenvuori for a watchnight concert. The pianist Laura Mikkola has served as Artistic Director of the festival from its very foundation.
RUSK festival combines superior chamber music with various artistic disciplines in a melting pot where creativity can flow in exotic contexts, even during a darker and chillier time of year. The distinguished Artistic Directors of the festival are the clarinettist Christoffer Sundqvist and the composer Sebastian Fagerlund.
