An intimate, youthful celebration in the childhood stamping ground of Finland’s national composer Jean Sibelius, with concerts in various districts of Loviisa, just an hour’s drive from Helsinki to the East. A week of top class concerts with international performing artists at several concert venues in unique surroundings. Our chamber music will enthral audiences at the churches and chapels of the district, and will also entertain people on a cruise ship, in village halls and manor houses, and in an old stable building. Larger symphony orchestras are also guests of the festival in interim years. Artistic Director Anna Aminoff was also a founder of this festival in 2006.
Lieksa provides an incomparable venue for brass music, and the annual Brass Week brings together a large cohort of Finnish and international brass musicians. The programme will include a broad range of concerts, brass music courses, and an international trumpet competition, plus a generous assortment of fringe events, free admission concerts, outdoor musical performances and children’s events. We shall also arrange an international euphonium competition in 2018.
The finest mediaeval, renaissance and baroque compositions in the venerable cultural landscapes of Lake Rautavesi with leading Finnish and international early music artists. The concerts will take place in the mediaeval stone churches of Sastamala. An international master class and free admission events will complement the concert series.
