Celebrating our 41st season in this, the sunniest of Finland’s seaside towns, with the finest musical events at Naantali’s splendid mediaeval abbey, in idyllic archipelago churches and at other scenic locations. The festival programme will include park concerts, an evening concert and the highly popular Naantali Children’s Music Festival, with the Winter Concert Series providing an early start.
This internationally acclaimed festival will bring together friends of Sibelius’ music from across the globe October 2020, as the Lahti Symphony Orchestra once again invites followers of Finland’s national composer to a wonderful celebration in the acoustically splendid setting of Sibelius Hall. The Artistic Director of the festival is the distinguished Chief Conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Dima Slobodeniouk.
Fine music and splendid natural surroundings combine to provide an unforgettable experience in Enontekiö and the North Calotte region. With concerts held in wilderness huts or churches, these performances are always truly intimate occasions for the audience. The events of this northernmost celebration of sacred and classical music in the European Union are mainly arranged during Easter week, but we also enrich the cultural life of the region with concerts at other times of year.
Splendid musicianship is the hallmark of this unique festival, with international artists performing in a wide range of concerts. Professional musicians, students and hobbyists are all welcome to enrol on our courses, and the opportunity to follow the preliminary and final rounds of an international soloist competition should not be missed. Lieksa is a small town in North Karelia close to the Eastern border of the European Union, with enchanting natural landscapes and a wealth of leisure time opportunities accompanying the festival. This is the largest art music event of any kind in the region, and also the largest brass music festival in the Nordic countries.
