Finnish and international artists will bring memorable chamber music experiences to the Finnish capital, delighting all friends of urban summer events at a wide variety of venues in the historic surroundings and downtown districts of the city, and focusing particularly on its unique art nouveau concert halls. A fascinating programme, audience-friendliness and reasonable ticket prices are integral aspects of this annual event.
RUSK festival combines superior chamber music with various artistic disciplines in a melting pot where creativity can flow in exotic contexts, even during a darker and chillier time of year. The festival was founded in 2013 by clarinettist Christoffer Sundqvist and composer Sebastian Fagerlund. The prominent conductor Anna-Maria Helsing has served as Artistic Director of the RUSK festival since 2020.
Our unique urban festival will grace the splendid concert venues of the city and archipelago with music for a wide range of tastes, including major orchestral concerts, chamber music, opera, recitals, jazz, world music and concerts for the whole family. Performers will include leading names in Finnish and international classical music, invited to interpret a programme carefully compiled by internationally acclaimed conductor and cellist Klaus Mäkelä.
This biennial international celebration brings a contingent of international stars, including leading figures in Finnish piano art and promising young pianists, to the concert halls of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The 30th anniversary programme of PianoEspoo Festival in 2021 will be carefully designed by our Artistic Director, the celebrated pianist Paavali Jumppanen.
