Master conductor Valeri Gergijev will once again bring the world famous St. Petersburg Mariinski Theatre Orchestra and soloists to Mikkeli next summer. Initially organised as an intimate chamber music celebration in 1992, our festival has grown into one of the leading classical music events of the Finnish cultural summer.
The programmed events of this warm celebration tastefully combine a wide range of musical experiences in various genres that draw strength from unique concert venues in the rural milieu of Harjavalta and Kokemäki. Pride of place goes to chamber and wind instrument music, complemented by high standard light music and children’s concerts.
Fine music and splendid natural surroundings combine to provide an unforgettable experience in Enontekiö and the North Calotte region. With concerts held in wilderness huts or churches, these performances are always truly intimate occasions for the audience. The events of this northernmost celebration of sacred and classical music in the European Union are mainly arranged during Easter week, but we also enrich the cultural life of the region with concerts at other times of year. Hetta Music Event will celebrate its golden jubilee season in 2019.
This internationally acclaimed festival will bring together friends of Sibelius’ music from across the globe for the 20th time in September 2019, as the Lahti Symphony Orchestra once again invites followers of Finland’s national composer to a wonderful celebration in the acoustically splendid setting of Sibelius Hall. The Artistic Director of the festival is the distinguished Chief Conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Dima Slobodeniouk.
