RUSK festival combines superior chamber music with various artistic disciplines in a melting pot where creativity can flow in exotic contexts, even during a darker and chillier time of year. The festival was founded in 2013 by clarinettist Christoffer Sundqvist and composer Sebastian Fagerlund. The prominent conductor Anna-Maria Helsing has served as Artistic Director of the RUSK festival since 2020.
Held at the beginning of June, this high standard chamber music event delights the public with leading Finnish and international musicians and the stars of the future appearing as soloists and in ensembles of all sizes. Leading artists have been providing unique experiences for our audiences in the splendid cultural landscapes of Southwest Finland since 1999, with programmes ranging from familiar classics to the very latest chamber music performed in intimate manor houses and churches.
This unique celebration gives the audience an intimate chamber music experience by the historic shores of Lake Tuusula with an unconventional, multi-artistic and intellectually riveting programme. Our Festival keeps listeners on their toes by continually re-inventing and challenging itself under the inspired artistic direction of the Kamus Quartet.
