This unique event is famous for its energetic gigs, warm atmosphere and celebrated performers. Organised at the Tervasaari UPM paper mill and in the grounds of Myllysaari museum, the broad programme includes pop, rock and rap music, workers’ songs and world music.

This unique urban festival is a joyful celebration that takes over the entire City Port and downtown districts of Kotka, bringing visitors back time and again to meet old friends and have lots of fun every year! The diverse programme will foster an international atmosphere, with local and international culture, music, dance and theatre, sporting and boating events, and the largest parade of the Finnish summer. There will also be a generous programme of free admission events for families with children, including the Children’s Maritime Festival.
Wordless theatre, concerts, clubs, courses, debates… Over the years, Finland’s longest-running urban festival has always sought to remain a few steps ahead of its time and to experiment with new ideas. The programme will also include many free events for visitors of all ages.
The seven festivals and fringe events of this late summer celebration attract a total of between 55 and 60 thousand visitors every year. Oulu August Festival incorporates Elojazz, Oulunsalo Soi Chamber Music Festival, Muusajuhlat Literary art festival, Oulu Arts Night, Koiteli Elää pop and rock festival, Oulu Music Video Festival and the Air Guitar World Championships. The programme varies from year to year, ranging from small concert events and the Oulu August Festival presents series for local talent to contemporary circus and choral celebrations. Many programme events are also open to the public free of charge, meaning that everyone is invited to our August sensation!
Finland’s largest arts festival will once again provide a diverse programme of events throughout the city, with experiences ranging from classical to world music and pop, from drama to contemporary dance, and from visual art to film and children’s events.
